Innovation Designer - Current Role

Overview

I work within IBM Client Engineering in the Federal Market. I unpack clients' needs to rapidly solve business problems and craft unique customer experiences.

About the Role

Within Client Engineering, I work in a cross-dimensional team made up of Architects, Data Scientists, Engineers, Developers, and Business Strategists. As the only designer on my squad, I’m responsible for leading federal clients and teams through a human-centered innovation process and championing the inclusion of human-centered design.

My Contributions

I blend design research, service design, and business strategy to define scope and craft user experiences. As part of the Federal Market, our clients range from the Department of Education to the Department of Defense. As a result my work is highly confidential, but I am more than happy to discuss my role and contributions as a whole.

I lean on and continuously grow my technical fluency and understanding of AI to guide conversations through designing complex solutions.
I facilitate collaborative workshops between diverse stakeholders to alignment and understanding.
I integrate design and technology to address clear business needs, and communicate my work using tailored storytelling to help drive adoption.

Additional Involvements

In addition to my main role, I am involved in other sectors of IBM. I co-lead the design-for-generative-AI guild; in addition, I am also involved in the Client Engineering Public/Federal Design Practice Squad, where I help define key best design practices for innovation designers.

My Design Research Co-op

Prior to this role, I served as a UX researcher on the Threat Management Team at IBM Security for 7.5 months. I was recruited to uncover insights, inform design decisions, and forge new opportunities to improve business outcomes in regards to IBM Security's product offerings.
